Missing dogs aren’t a new phenomenon, but there have been quite a number going missing in the Cambridgeshire area recently.

Owners have expressed fears their missing pets have been stolen – with some finding them miles away from where they were based.

But these reunions have been thanks to the sterling work by concerned people who have been selfless enough to look for them and reunite the owners with their furry companions.

We’ve compiled a list of missing dogs in the Cambridgeshire area.

Percy

The hunt for this missing family pet began at the beginning of April after he was allegedly stolen from a farm in Boxworth.

Percy, a seven-year-old border terrier, was snatched outside Birds Pasture Farm, Boxworth, at around midday on Tuesday, April 3, after locals spotted vans near the area.

If you think you may have seen Percy, contact Jo on 07801588356. He is microchipped.

Polly

Polly the dog was stolen from the garden on her home near Wisbech.

Polly, a blue brindle-coloured pup, was allegedly stolen from the front garden of Churchill Road, in Gorefield near Wisbech, on April 17.

Claire Sutton’s children were playing in the garden and had just popped inside for a drink when their pet was allegedly snatched around 5pm.

Polly’s family have now put out a reward for her safe return. They are also deeply concerned for the dog’s wellbeing because Polly relies on medication for ongoing intestinal problems.

If you have seen her, contact 07581242380 or 07581242380.

What should you do if you’ve had your dog stolen?

A police spokeswoman said: “Having your dog stolen can be extremely distressing. Simple measures like locking doors and keeping your property secure will help deter thieves. Never leave your pet tied up and unattended. Ensure your dog is microchipped and, when in a public place, is wearing a collar and ID tag.

“If you believe your dog has been stolen, check with family or friends who may have access to ensure they haven’t taken the dog out and then call police.

“If you have lost your dog, please contact the local dog warden.”
